12 WEEK BODY TRANFORMATION PROGRAM

Going through life with sub-standard Health, – high body fat levels, slouching posture and poor muscle strength and tone, along with slacking activity - all have a detrimental effect on your lifestyle, health and well-being.
The fact is, your body is your most valuable asset, and is something that YOU can control. Simply lifting weights or doing cardio is helpful, but it limits your ability to achieve optimal results, unless you consider a structured approach. .
The Dynabody Body Transformation program helps solve this.  This 12 week workout plan is designed for one who wants to build muscle, lose body fat and to look and feel their best!

The program starts July 13, 2020  (to Oct.4, 2020)
Cost $80
for this 3 phase/  12 week program.

Cost is less than $7/week for your personal planned workouts right on your smart phone.  This eliminates the guesswork and gives you the ability to exercise anywhere and at any time. Not only will it spark that motivation, but will keep you accountable and committed!

Phase One -building a good foundation focusing on power and strength training, which will more readily assist fat loss when higher weights and endurance oriented training is introduced.

Phase Two -introduces Mixed Hybrid training for muscle building and stimulation.  Adding key intensity techniques to the mix increases the stress imposed on the muscles and offers a unique stimulus that will force additional muscle growth.  Muscle detail will begin coming through in this phase.

Phase Three will include a combination of higher and lower reps in each workout to target multiple muscle fibers and create definition and tone. The intensity of cardio will increase to improve endurance and conditioning.

All training sessions are to be recorded through Trainerize, which help to ensure all targets are being met. By adding the actual weights and reps used, you can track your progress, and continuously improve on previous results.

This program emphasizes weight training for both fat loss and muscle gain - which makes our overall body function more efficiently.

However, it is important to note that consistency in exercise and MOST IMPORTANTLY Nutrition, are absolutely vital if these objectives are to be met.  You can NEVER outwork a bad diet.

Intensity, Discomfort, Pain & Gains

Discomfort caused by muscle fatigue or lactic acid build up is GOOD.
It means that you are pushing yourself.  Some muscle soreness a day or two after a workout is also GOOD, it means that your muscles are recuperating, repairing and growing.

However, Discomfort in your bones, joints, tendons, or ligaments or a sharp shooting sensation is BAD.
When this happens you should stop exercising immediately.  Pushing through this sort of discomfort hurtsyour fitness and may force you to take off more time than necessary.

While resistance training should be intense and discomfort may result, Pain is is not a part of a successful workout.  Pain is your body’s warning system that enough is enough.  So listen!!!!
So Remember:

INTENSITY = A LITTLE DISCOMFORT = FITNESS GAINS

Offset the Negative Effects from Sitting

Did you know?
5+ hours of sedentary sitting is the health equivalent of smoking a pack and a quarter of cigarettes! (1)

We were never meant to sit for long periods of time. At work, driving, watching the game - all this sitting breaks down the body.  The consequences are many;
- Increases your risk of death from any cause by 50% (2)
- Increases your risk of cardiovascular disease or heart attacks by 125%
- Slows down your blood flow (3)
- Makes your hip flexors extremely tight (one of the common root causes of chronic back pain)
- Slows down your metabolism and make you burn 21% fewer calories than if you were standing up (4)
- Worsens your body’s ability to metabolize glucose and to handle carbs )increasing risks of diabetes). (5)
Other negative side effects include poor lymph flow, brain dysfunction, feeling sluggish, poor bone density, weak digestion, bad posture, swollen feet, etc….

If you sit a lot - you need to be smart.
As you know, my motto is “Use it or Lose It”.  In reality - MOTION IS LIFE.

“When you take a movement break it doesn’t matter what you do, you can take a nice stroll down the hall,” said Dr Keith Diaz, an expert in behavioural medicine at Columbia University and co-author of a study on excess sitting.
Diaz noted such periods could be as short as a minute in duration. “It is about just adding up the activity across the day,” he said, adding that walking to a co-worker’s desk rather than speaking on the phone, or having walking meetings, were both ways in which sitting time could be reduced and activity boosted. 6

Another way of looking at is is to ask a simple question:
"How little will I sit?" Small movements have a big impact. Try some NonExercise Activity Thermogenesis.  Also known as NEAT try stretching, flexing your toes and calves, stretching, or even fidgeting in your chair. All of those movements require energy, and the calories add up, says Mayo Clinic researcher James Levine.  He also suggests that "The goal of sitting should be singular: to give our bodies a break from moving."

Offset the Negative Side Effects from Sitting by taking breaks every 30 minutes and Stretching.

The following stretches are designed to loosen tight hip flexors -that result from sitting too much…

The Dirty Dozen

Each year since 2004, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) comes out with their “Dirty Dozen”  a list of popular fruits and vegetables that are full of pesticide contamination, and, if you are concerned with your health (which I hope you should) –is best NOT to eat unless organic.
The "Dirty Dozen" includes:
1.      Strawberries (worst offender)
2.      Spinach  (next worst- had, on average, twice as much pesticide residue by weight than any other crop)
3.      Nectarines
4.      Apples
5.      Grapes
6.      Peaches
7.      Cherries
8.      Pears
9.      Tomatoes
10.  Celery
11.  Potatoes
12.  Sweet Bell Peppers  (including Hot peppers)
These produce should always be purchased organic.  Many local farms and markets use all organic practices but can’t afford the certification process – so check first before buying.
Don’t fret, not all produce needs to be organic.  Below is a list of produce you can buy conventionally.  If you can, go NonGMO on these;
1.      Avocados
2.      Pineapples
3.      Cabbage
4.      Onions
5.      Sweet peas frozen
6.      Asparagus
7.      Mangos
8.      Eggplant
9.      Honeydew Melon
10.  Kiwi
11.  Cantaloupe
12.  Cauliflower
13.  Broccoli

Goal Planning in the New Year

If you fail to plan…you plan to fail.
Did you know:

Of those who make a New Year’s Resolution, close to 60% give up within 3 months. Even worse, it is estimated that 75% of people who join gyms quit (or don’t go back) within 3 weeks of joining!

Regarding New Year’s Resolutions, only 20% have a plan on how they will accomplish them.

Between 5 and 10% of those who set goals write down a plan.

Only 5 to 10% succeed in their goals. Equivalent to those who document their progress!

See a trend?

Trying to fulfill a goal without a plan is like going on a road trip across the country without a map or knowing your destination. Your fitness program cannot proceed according to plan if you have no plan, nor can you expect great results without a guide to steer you in the right direction.

Be it for fitness, career or other personal goals, people fail to achieve their goals for a number of reasons. Here is a list of the most common;

1) Don’t really want to do it. If you don’t think it’s important and can’t motivate yourself it’s not going to happen.

2) To many things on the go. Make a checklist and prioritize what’s important.

3) Procrastination. Make a plan and stick to it until it becomes an enjoyable habit.

4) Don’t know how to do it. If you are unsure, get help.

5) Set goals and record your progress.

Here’s something to think about:

"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."
Anthony Robbins

Action without planning is one of the biggest reasons for failure. Planning should not be taken lightly. Goal setting involves mental work and preparation BEFORE the physical work.
Setting goals and keeping a record of your progress are important because as you come more fit, you must optimize the adaptive response to your training. Updating your goals can reflect this direction.

Before you start with the goals clarify what you want out of it:

- Do you want a fit lifestyle?
- Who are you right now?
- What motivates you to exercise?
- How do you want to train?
- What activities do I plan to participate in?
- What are the obstacles?
- How much time can I reasonably schedule?
- How will you reach your goal?
- What makes you think you can succeed?
- How can I incorporate the 5 components of fitness
(warm-up, aerobic training, resistance training, flexibility & cool down) to ensure success?

STEPS TO SETTING SUCCESSFUL GOALS
Your ultimate long-term goal. Imagine a dream goal. – aim high. Visualize your success.
This sets your frame of mind to realize that you can achieve anything that you put your mind to. This is the ultimate goal – if you are willing to pay the price to achieve it!

Be specific with your goals. I want to lose weight is too vague . Instead, narrow it down into something that is within your control to achieve. For instance;

· What measurements would I like to have?
· What dress size do I want to wear?
· How much body fat do I want to lose?

Set an Annual 12 month goal. Periodize your workouts. Do you like to take vacation at a certain time of year? Planning to run a marathon? Take these into consideration.

Three months goals - eg: Lose 10 lbs of fat.

Weekly Goals – Schedule or map your time.
Scheduling is critical to the success of your exercise program. Not only does this give you an idea of the time and activity planned, but it helps enforce commitment and success. A scheduled plan becomes habit forming. You will feel better, rarely miss workouts and continue to see success!

Once done, chart your progress. Are you losing fat? Gaining Muscle?

Daily Scheduling - now has to established to determine the time you have available. Back out the time needed for a warm-up, and cool-down to determine the amount of time available for your chosen exercise.

Daily goals are where habits are developed. Take baby steps – you reach your goals by making small choices every day. By mastering small challenges first you will have the feeling of accomplishment and keep your momentum going.

Keep a Journal or a Training DiaryThis helps you focus on your goals. Having a written plan gives you a sense of direction that makes you feel certain, confident and motivated. A journal is a score card that tracks how well you are doing. You can see right way if the time you're investing is delivering results.

Keeping a training diary sends unmistakable instructions to your subconscious mind.
Rather than just going through the motions you get a good idea of your progress – what you are doing and how well.

Read and Reevaluate your Goals regularly

Too often a person sets goals but never revisits them. Setting and reevaluating your goals;

- Keeps you accountable
- Keeps your training program fresh
- Stimulates the body and mind
- Allows you to monitor your results.

Motivation is only effective when the goal is meaningful and fits the individual. Goal setting is an ongoing process. It is important to update your goals and record your progress or lack thereof so that appropriate changes can be made to maintain improvements. It is important that you plan not only for the time you workout, but the balance of your day.

The key to successful goal implementation is to keep your initial desires and motivations fresh in your mind. By reviewing and reevaluating progress, your goals become engrained into your mind. Daily reflection turns dreams into reality.

Reward yourselfEven though you may look in the mirror with satisfaction on your progress, take time to reward your successes – and don’t beat yourself up over drawbacks. Consider a reward as a “recharging” of your batteries. Mentally and physically you will feel better.

CONCLUSION
It is quite likely that you can see short term success without setting a plan. For example, if your goal was losing weight, it is possible to see results within the first few weeks of a haphazard workout and diet regime. However, how many people do you know that have lost weight only to gain it later?

As challenging as it is to lose weight, the greater challenge is keeping the pounds from coming back on. At this point you have reached the maintenance phase, or in other words “the rest of your life”.

You don’t see the rewards from your workout so easily. People may not compliment you, your waist size may not reduce further – you’re just staying the same. This is where people start to switch back to their old ways. By continuously setting goals you will unknowingly set yourself up for long-term success.

There is never really an “ultimate” goal. Success is traveling towards the goal, not the goal itself. By improving on yourself you are improving your quality of life and satisfying the “maintenance” phase.

If you are one of those fortunate individuals that record your goals, take a look back at some of your past goals. You would be amazed at what you have achieved – all started from taking baby steps!

"By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands — your own." --Mark Victor Hansen

LIFE EXPECTANCY & HEALTHY LIFE EXPECTANCY

Did you know that the current life expectancy for Canadians is 83 years?  Although not in the top 10 (25th) we are doing much better than our friends  South of the 49th parallel (ranked 62) (1)…

According to Employment and Social Development Canada, men were expected to spend 88.0% (68.9 years) of their life in good health, compared with 85.8% (71.2 years) for women. Although women had higher life expectancy, men were expected to spend a higher proportion of their life in good health.

Wow!  In other words you can expect about 10 years of life in poor health.   Yikes!

Taking gender out of the equation, Chronic conditions are the main cause of lowered HALE (Health-Adjusted Life Expectancy.    Of that, Depression is a major cause.  In addition, obesity and stress continues to be on the rise.

People in Canada live 10 years longer than they did 50 years ago, however has declined since 2023.  The Public Health Agency of Canada has created a dashboard that explores the health of our population using more than 50 interactive indicators.
Check it out here:

For the majority of people, they can improve their healthy life.

There are no magic pills, no short-cuts, no special diets, or machines that will result in being healthy.   Even if there was a magic pill – and you could afford it…there are much more benefits to the key to health - EXERCISE.  Besides adding strength and tone to the muscles, exercise works your heart and lungs.  An exercise “pill” won’t build your self-esteem and confidence you get from a good work-out.  Resistance and Aerobic exercise can improve your mood, add brain power, help your sex life, and change your body for the better.

Your food intake is the MOST important.  -  Proper nutrition is 60% of the effort in building a healthy strong body.   Follow a properly balanced Nutritional eating schedule.  “Eat the Rainbow” – lots of Fruits and Vegetables (NonGMO), Beans, Legumes and Fish.  Cut back or eliminate Meat, Chicken and Dairy – they are NOT needed for being healthy.  Meat should be a delicacy.  Complex Carbs are the most important for feeding your microbiome.  Learn from the Centenarians!  And of course stay away from sugar, processed and fast foods.  Do not fall in the Diet Trap and become part of the yo-yo phenomenon.  You can’t stay on a diet forever.

It is important to create a lifestyle that works for you and that you will maintain for healthy life.  The best results come from a long-term strategy involving permanent change in both eating and activity habits.
You can live your life in good health – it’s your reality - start now!

Stay "Smart" Technology Hazards

If you know anything about Accupuncture, Reiki, Chakras, you already know that the body is made up of more than blood, bone and tissues.  Our body is electric.  Every cell in our body communicates through tiny electrical signals.  We have many human energy fields which include not only physically measurable electromagnetic and magnetic fields, but, also a subtle aura of etheric energy that surrounds and overlays our physical self.

Today, Smart phones have become an essential to daily life. Add to that Wi-Fi’s, cordless phones, microwaves, satellite radio,  etc, we are constantly bombarded with electric and magnetic energy.  And, did you know that microwaves, cellphones, cordless phones and Wi-fi ALL use the SAME frequencies?  The difference is in the wattages (Power). However more recently, power is not just the only concern, what actually is more detrimental is the PULSE – used by cellphones.  This irregular pulse has a more biological effect to your body than power.    Even though the radiofrequencies (RF) fields only penetrate a short distance into the body, the energy of these fields are absorbed and transformed into the movement of molecules in the body. 1

The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that electronic devices, not just cell phones are bad for the body and can increase the chances of developing cancer.  Prolonged environmental exposure, if minor, may constitute a health hazard if it results in biological stress.  Even though electric fields do not penetrate the body significantly, they do build up a charge on the body surface.  Magnetic fields on the other hand causes circulating currents to flow in the body.

Dr. Devra Davis presented a talk on “The truth about mobile phone and wireless radiation” 3 at the University of Melbourne exposing the harsh reality of our technology advancements.  You can listen to the whole presentation on Youtube for yourself at::  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwyDCHf5iCY

All is not lost.  Here are some helpful points to help reduce your risk of EMF exposure;   2

DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR CELL PHONE NEAR.
Many people use their cell phone as an alarm clock.  Or, they want to keep it close in case of emergencies.  The problem is that the cell phone continues to communicate with the base stations by the radio transmissions, even when not using it.   It’s better to get a separate alarm clock, but if you do use your cell phone, set it on AIRPLANE Mode.  And, if you need the phone in case of emergency, it’s best to have a LAN line.  If not at least turn off the internet or wifi connection.  You should create a safe place to sleep, a time when your body can rejuvenate.  A cell phone near the bed can also increases anxiety levels as many of us have bad habits of waking up in the middle of the night to check emails, notifications and social networks so it’s best to turn it off!

TURN OFF YOUR WIFI AND BLUE TOOTH DEVICES AT NIGHT
There are over 1,800 studies that have verified that EMF’s are hurting us. Wifi and Bluetooth are even more dangerous than radio waves.  Ideally hardwire usage (Ethernet),  or better yet, Fibre-optics is the way to go.  A simple timer to shut your wifi router off at night is a great alternative.
Eliminating such exposure will help reduce insomnia, headaches, Ear Ringing (Tinnitus), fatigue, cognitive disturbance and stress!

DO NOT CARRY THE CELLPHONE CLOSE TO YOUR BODY
Have you read the fine print on your cellphone contract?    Did you know that you should NOT carry your cellphone any closer than an inch away from the body?  A cell phone held close to the skin receives hundreds of times more radiation than if held further away. So keep it out of your pocket and use your speaker when talking. If you want to find out more hidden safety advice – on your iphone you can go to Settings>About>Legal>RF Exposure.  For other smartphones you can go to:  www.showthefineprintorg.

STOP ENCOURAGING KIDS TO USE CELL PHONES
Smartphones are banned in Schools in Belgium, France, Spain, Finland, Italy, Isael, Australia, Austria, India, Switzerland, Germany and more.  It’s no wonder, as a children’s bone marrow of a child’s head can absorb 10 times more radiation than an adult! 4  Tablets are tested in labs 20 cm from the body, so they should NOT be held in the laps of children.

According to Electronics Engineer turned Technology Health Advocate Jeromy Johnson’s (Ted Talks)5   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0NEaPTu9oI) our children are going to be affected by the exponential effect of the rise in microwavable radiation all their lives.
If your Child has school work, upload it onto the computer or tablet and then shut the wifi off while working.  Do not let them stream music while doing homework and place it on a table away from the body..

Here are so healthier habits when using your smartphone 2;
  • Do not talk on your cell phone where the signal is weak as the cell phone must put out a stronger signal increasing radiation.
  • Do not let children use the cell phone as a toy or for games.
  • Don’t forget about your pets!  Turn your wifi off when you aren’t home and they are guarding the nest.
  • Keep phone calls short and alternate sides every few minutes.  Better yet use a lan line, your cell’s speaker or a plug in speakerphone device – not Bluetooth.
  • After checking your smartphone for messages, put it down away from you, on a desk or another room.
  • Put your cellphone away in your purse or briefcase when driving home.
  • Like to use it for listening to music?  I sure do.  Save the music on your phone – don’t stream. Stay away from Bluetooth Headphones and use the airplane mode if you have it close to the body.
  • Turn the face of the cellphone toward the body as the back emits more radiation.
  • Use Text.  But do it smartly!  Not when you are walking or driving –
  • Be aware of what you are doing and don’t expect instant responses – enjoy time way from technology!

Oh, and stay away from SmartMeters (Hydro/Electric) or “Smart” Security systems – they aren’t really smart.  Hardwired / Fibre optics is the only way to go!

We always WANT convenience.  Be it a magic pill,  boxed food, or new toys – there is a price to pay – but let it NOT be your health!  Stay “Smart” –technology can’t do it for you
